Wings 2022

The Covid-19 pandemic has been harsh on all of us. But for the adolescent girls of India, it has been unsparing.

What are the kind of hardships girls endured during the lockdowns?
Is their access to healthcare & nutrition now limited?
How many of them may not be able to go back to school at all?
And most importantly, how have their rights been compromised?

The third edition of our seminal publication World of India’s Girls (WINGS) 2022 – A Spotlight on Adolescent Girls Amid Covid-19 offers an exhaustive analysis.

WINGS 2022 was launched on March 2nd, 2022 during a virtual event. We had the opportunity to listen to some truly inspiring ideas, pressing questions and promising answers on how girls can be empowered for a brighter future, against the backdrop of the pandemic. We were joined by Prof. A.K Shiva Kumar, our Chairperson Deepak Kapoor, our CEO Sudarshan S and our Girl Champion Yashoda as the latter highlighted the hardships faced by adolescent girls amid the pandemic.

WINGS2022 presents crucial evidence on girls’ ordeal during the pandemic and advocates for immediate and long-term measures to address risks that surround adolescent girls in this pandemic era.
