Save the Children stopped 146 child marriages in 2020. With your support and working closely with the Government bodies, we’ve been able to bring lasting change in communities. Girls are now going to school, their parents understand the importance of their education and perils of child marriage.

Jashoda Prajapat, a 16 -year old from Osian, Jodhpur, brave and friendly girl who changed the outlook of her village for adolescent girl’s rights and break century’s old social taboos. She is the first girl from her village to go to high school.
She serves as the Health Secretary of girls’ federation represents more than 3000 girls. Jashoda is member of School Management Committee and Children Parliament. An advocate for girls’ education and child marriage recognized the unique role of education in transforming lives. Jashoda participated National Children’s Parliament Meet organized by Nine is Mine in Feb 2019 to discuss child right’s issues. She was elected as Health Minister of the Child Parliament. Being Discussion Leaders (Life skills educator) takes discussion sessions with adolescent girls on ill-effects of child marriage, SRHR and gender. She is mentor provides space for adolescent girls to make valuable connections, shares advice and link with health service providers. Jashoda is determined to become a Police Officer and dedicated to help girls. Till June 2020, 36 child marriages have been prevented with the support of girls’ federations and 87 drop-out girls re-enrolled in schools in Osian.
