THE QUARTER

Save the Children launched a handbook on Quality Standards of Care for orphanages in Jammu & Kashmir in collaboration with the Government of Jammu & Kashmir. The handbook was launched in presence of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who inspired by Save the Children’s work in the state suggested a community care mechanism for orphan welfare.

During the last week of September 2009 the States of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka faced heavy rainfall which resulted in major floods in five districts of Andhra Pradesh and twelve district in Karnataka.
Save the Children as part of its emergency response was one of the first to respond to this situation ensuring that the children who are most vulnerable during such natural disaster are provided with a safe environment.
