Key Achievements from October to December:


•   World Pneunomia Day (Nov. 12) coincided with the important festival of Bihar Chatt, project staff organised pneumonia camps at festival sites, where more than 2500 people visited and learned about pneumonia prevention and treatment. In addition, 15,000 signed postcards from 6 project districts were gathered and sent to Prime Minister urging him to prioritise child health in the 12th Five Year Plan and increase the child health budget from1% to 3% of the GDP.

 

•   Under the IKEA Social Initiative “First Generation Learners” programme, suggestion boxes were installed in schools to provide children the opportunity to express their concerns and suggestions. Children are actively submitting suggestions that are reviewed and acted upon twice each month by the headmaster, teachers and CG members.

 

•    Delhi Mobile Health Units continued to provide outstanding clinics, camps and referral services, and a team from Save the Children Netherlands conducted a film shoot to document the work of mobile health clinics in several slum clusters.
