Save the Children’s biggest campaign, EVERY ONE is a significant endeavour given the enormity of the problem in India where nearly 2 million children die before their 5th birthday – the highest anywhere in the world. The campaign gives EVERY ONE a unique opportunity to change the future for millions of the poorest and most marginalised children.
The three day event (19-21 March ’10) will bring together Students from diverse backgrounds - Law, Humanities, Engineering as well as Management streams will be participating in the event.
Through Samanjasya the EVERY ONE campaign will go to the campus seeking youth to support the effort to saving children’s lives and recruit campaigners for the cause.
Save the Children has provided its live case study on shocking infant and child mortality in India to be solved by the students participating in the event.
About the Campaign
2 million children in India die every year from easily preventable diseases. A child dies in India every 15 sec. Each one leaves a heartbroken family .Which of these children have a right to survive? EVERYONE. It’s shameful and unjustifiable that in 2009 more than 9 million children will die before they reach their fifth birthday — over 20% of them in India.
India is booming, but the effects of its 9% GDP growth are not reaching its poor — and our children are suffering the consequences.
Unless we act urgently, children will continue to die for many years to come, though the
world has the knowledge and resources to save them.
Save the Children recently launched its a new drive EVERY ONE which aims at working across the world to make a big change happen faster. We’re calling for your support to help India make the 46% annual reduction in the deaths of children to meet MDG 4 by 2015.
A 5 % improvement in child mortality rates can raise economic growth by around 1% per year over the following decade.
