We would like to sincerely thank Mothercare for organizing the ‘Born to Care’ Cricket Tournament and donating the proceeds to Save the Children.

As part of the celebrations to mark their 50th anniversary, Mothercare   launched a three year partnership with Save the Children.   Mothercare has committed to donate 1.75 Million pounds to Save the Children, through a campaign named “Born to Care” which will run globally and involve Mothercare employees, supplier partners and Mothercare’s stores and customers. This is in support of Save the Children’s work to save newborn lives.

There have been a number of activities held thus far including various awareness workshops at supplier factories. These have helped raise awareness on child rights issues and were well received.

Fundraising initiatives by Mothercare teams have received enthusiastic support and helped raise funds for Save the Children. These efforts have included a Charity Auction, food demo events, participation in Marathons and in Oct 2011 – the Mothercare Cricket Tournament and Grand Carnival with over 2500 people in attendance.

The Cricket Tournament participants included teams from Mothercare as well as its supplier partners. The teams involved were Shoppers Stop, DLF, Infosys, BVCPS, Mothercare Bangladesh, CMI, Best, Primetex, Colorlines, SCM, Cotton Blossom, Texport, Indian Designs, Panorama, First Step and Mothercare India.

The funds raised from the various events would be utilised in Save the Children’s New Born and Child Survival work in the country.

The Born to Care initiative has been massively successful in raising resources as well as awareness on key issues and our sincere gratitude to the teams at Mothercare that worked relentlessly to make these events such a huge success. The fabulous contributions from Mothercare’s supplier partners along with the unstinting support from Mothercare’s Global team have helped make this partnership truly successful.
